Library Rules & Regulations

1. Entry to the library is allowed only to individuals carrying valid Identity Cards of SGT University.

2. Users must sign in on the PTC/register every time they visit the library.

3. Students and staff must obtain library membership to access library facilities.

4. To become a member, users must fill out the membership form, get approval and signatures from their respective department and deposit it in the library.

5. After obtaining membership, students can borrow up to 3 textbooks for 14 days, while staff can borrow up to 5 textbooks for 60 days.

6. Books cannot be reissued on the same day if another member is/are waiting for them.

7. Magazines and Newspapers are for in-library reading only, and cutting or clipping from them is strictly prohibited.

8. Users can check the availability of books through the OPAC service.

9. Borrowing and returning books can be done directly through RFID kiosks.

10. The library operates with an open cum close access system.

11. Library staff has the authority to ask users who don't comply with rules or lack a library membership card to leave or cancel their membership.

12. Overdue book reminders may be sent or displayed, but it is the users' responsibility to return books on time.

13. Users must check the physical condition of books before borrowing and inform issuing staff of any existing damage; otherwise, they will be held responsible.

14. Books, journals, and magazines should not be torn, folded, or underlined.

15. Users are encouraged to report any suspicious activities within the library to the librarian.

16. Documents should not be displaced from their designated positions on the shelves.

17. Silence must be maintained in and around the library, and discussions are not allowed inside.

18. Personal belongings, including bags and overcoats, are not permitted inside the library and should be kept outside at the user property counter.

19. Dictionaries, Reference Books, Encyclopedias, Journals, and Periodicals can only be consulted within the library premises.

20. Users must return all borrowed items before leaving the college and obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

21. Loss of the borrower's ID card must be reported immediately to the librarian, and a duplicate card will be issued as per university policy.

22. Users can provide feedback or suggestions through various means such as feedback forms, library Google forms, and feedback registers available in the library.

23. Loud speaking, eating, smoking, and gossiping are strictly prohibited in the library and may lead to membership cancellation.

24. Indiscipline or violation of any rules may result in the cancellation of library membership.

25. Readers who plan to be on leave for more than three months must clear their library account and obtain a "No Dues Certificate" from the librarian.

26. Readers should not mark or damage books or any library property and are urged to take good care of the books they borrow.

27. In case of book damage or loss, the member must replace the book with a new edition of the same format or pay the cost of the book along with additional charges as per policy.

28. Members are responsible for any loss the library may incur due to misuse of their library card.

29. Digital Library and e-resources are available to registered users for academic and educational purposes, both on and off-campus.

30. Users must not share their digital library registration details with others.

31. Misuse of digital library facilities may lead to the cancellation of a user's library membership.

32. Users should cooperate with library staff regarding information and adherence to rules.
